Fort Pierce Farmer's Market

One more post for the category of 'things to do in Fort Pierce'! On the last weekend I was home on winter break we headed down to the Fort Pierce Farmer's Market, a weekly event held on Saturday mornings in Downtown Fort Pierce right on the river featuring local produce, food and other goods sold by local businesses.

Generally speaking you'll have to park a little bit away from where the market is at and walk over. But luckily there is much to look at along the way!

As it happens, we parked down in the public parking lot across from the Manatee Center and Seven Gables House, both great attractions to visit if you are in the area. After crossing the foot bridge over to the marina you will find yourself downtown and at the Farmer's Market.

Pro Tip: It technically closes at noon so get there early!

Like I mentioned before, it's right on the river, so after you finish wandering through the stalls and getting your fix of local produce, stop by one of the restaurant vendors to grab some food to sit on the wall and take in the view.  All of the food vendors at the farmer's market are delicious, but this time we opted for burritos and conch fritters. I also recommend picking up one of the fresh squeezed lemonade concoctions from the lemonade stand there.

After grabbing some eats, we headed over to the arts and crafts section of the market on the other side of the park area.

On the artists side of the market you'll find everything from tropical themed paintings, to bath oils, tie dye dresses, custom dog collars and all manners of homemade crafting in between.

After looking through all the goods and wares we decided to head out back down towards the marina.

As you can see, if you happen to have the time, there are two tiki themed bar/restaurants right nearby if you want to wet your whistle.

Another perk of parking across from the manatee center and walking down to the farmer's market is the actual chance of a manatee sighting, which we were lucky enough to have on our way back to the car.

Unfortunately, I think the only picture I actually managed to get them breaking the surface was in the second one over by the dock.

I suppose a career as a wildlife photographer is out when I can't even manage to catch a sea cow in frame...
